Notes For Notes (Philip Gilley, Taylor Hurtado, & Ian Putnam) - Apr 26, 2011

Notes For Notes is a non profit foundation that has been working in Santa Barbara to give youth the opportunity to learn and play music for free. Executive Director / Founder, Phillip Gilley, and Program Directors, Taylor Hurtado and Ian Putnam stop by Radio Causeway to talk about the efforts Notes For Notes are making to enrich the lives of young people through the power of music.

Notes For Notes is the non profit entity from which The Music Box is funded.  The Music Box operates out of two locations of Boys and Girls Clubs in Santa Barbara.  Tickets are now on sale for a fundraiser concert on July 19th to support Notes For Notes featuring The Steve Miller Band at the Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara.  More information regarding the fundraiser can be found here.

A.S. Food Bank opening day! Guadalupe Cruz & Paul Monge-Rodriguez - Apr 19, 2011

The Associated Students of UC Santa Barbara are celebrating the opening day of the new A.S. Food Bank at the UC Santa Barbara campus.  Guadalupe Cruz, Student Initiated Recruitment and Retention Committee (SIRRC) Co-President and Paul Monge-Rodriguez talk with Radio Causeway about the details of the A.S. Food Bank and more.

Lorrie Thomas, author of the new book, 'The McGraw-Hill 36-Hour Course: Online Marketing' stops by Radio Causeway to discuss the book and her approach to marketing on the web.  Lorrie is the CEO of the Santa Barbara based marketing agency, Web Marketing Therapy.  She is also a professor at Santa Barbara City College and UC Berkeley.  The book is designed to be helpful for the novice all the way to the practicing professional.

HANDSHAKES, Max Hellmann - Mar 22, 2011

HANDSHAKES frontman, Max Hellmann takes time to speak with Radio Causeway about the new band and release of the debut ep, Cryptozoology.  HANDSHAKES has been compared to a mix between Pinback and Spoon.  The Los Angeles (Echo Park) based band is composed of ex-members from Wintergreen, Sputnik Monroe, and Controlling the Famous.  Filter Magazinze recently profiled the band's song 'Ridge' here.  Cryptozoology is currently available at the band's bandcamp site and will be physically released by Brooklyn's, Old Flame Records on April 12th, 2011.

HANDSHAKES will be performing at Fresh Bruises #1: March Badness with Nazcar Nation and Tape Deck Mountain on March 26th in Downtown LA.  They will also be playing an all ages event at Santa Barbara's The Presido Motel on April 3rd.
